- Windracers have unveiled their ULTRA-heavy drone in Parliament, highlighting the vital role UK-made autonomous systems are playing in support of Ukraine.
- Invited by the Ministry of Defense and welcomed by cross-party members including Al Carnes and Luke Pollard, the presentation emphasized the value of autonomous technology and home-grown innovation in defence.
- With a range of up to 1,000 km and a payload of 150 kg, Windracers ULTRA is already providing logistical support and monitoring in Ukraine. The Westminster event was a reminder of how British engineering is shaping the future of dual-use drones on the battlefield and beyond.

The visit provided MPs and senior UK government officials with direct access to Ultrawindracers and a clear view of the role that British aviation is playing in Ukraine. Discussions focused on the importance of investing in and maintaining independent industrial capacity in developing autonomous systems.
Windracers began delivering ULTRA to Ukraine in 2023 and the program is still ongoing, with additional vessels being sent in recent weeks.
Windracers are the most complete dual-user drones in the world, providing long-range multi-mission capabilities, delivering cargo, carrying surveillance equipment, and performing precision airdrops in competitive or difficult locations.
“Logistics, adaptability and innovation help secure a winner’s advantage on any battlefield,” said Secretary of the Armed Forces, Rep. Al Carnes.
“With a range of up to 1,000 km and a payload of 150 kg, the Windracer Ultra drone makes a difference on the battlefield in the hands of those defending European security in Ukraine.
“Britain has led the way in the supply of drones to Ukraine, with more than £600 million spent so far this year, including 20 British-made Windrunners, demonstrating that defense is the engine of growth across the country.”
The event was sponsored by Luke Pollard, Minister for Defense Readiness and Industry, and James Cartledge, Secretary of State for Defence, with cross-party support.
James Cartledge, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, said: “I am proud to co-sponsor the Windracers ULTRA demonstration in Parliament this week. We have a real opportunity for UK SMEs like Windracers to build on our independent industrial base by producing state-of-the-art drone capabilities for use in Ukraine.”
Simon Modrak, CEO of Windracers, said: “Seeing Windracers ULTRA in front of the limestone walls of Parliament really highlighted the importance of Britain’s ability to be independent. This platform is not just a feat of engineering; it is a practical tool that is making a real difference on the ground in Ukraine.”
“Everyone in the Windracers team recognizes the vital role the Ministry of Defense plays in enabling our work. We are grateful for their continued support and are proud to deliver advanced autonomous aviation that strengthens the defense of the UK and our allies.”
As the MP for the Windracers’ home constituency, Paul Holmes MP welcomed the recognition of the platform.
Paul Holmes MP, Constituent Representative for Windracers HQ in Humblewell, said: “Windracers are doing fantastic work to strengthen the UK’s sovereign capability. Their excellent drone technology is improving the UK’s defense aviation and it is great to have their achievements recognised.”
“It is a great honor to represent Windracers as a local representative.”
