Jetner selects Trackonomy’s next-generation IoT tracking technology for its global fleet of ULD devices

  • Jettainer has partnered with Trackonomy to equip its ULD fleet with next-generation IoT trackers, enabling comprehensive, real-time visibility.
  • The new system integrates cellular and network technology with existing infrastructure to reduce blind spots, improve recovery time and improve operational efficiency.
  • This strategic partnership aims to set new standards in air freight digitization and supply chain information.

Jettainer, a leading provider of unit load device (ULD) management services, is equipping its ULD fleet with Trackonomy’s next-generation IoT tracking technology. The two companies have entered into a long-term strategic partnership to provide a comprehensive, real-time view of the ULD supply chain with unparalleled accuracy and intelligence. This will result in reduced losses, increased efficiency and improved global operations of ULD.

One of the main challenges facing current tracking solutions is their reliance on fixed reader infrastructure at airports. This often creates blind spots that prevent true end-to-end visibility into the supply chain. Trackonomy devices take a hybrid approach: while LoRa and BLE readers continue to be installed in large and medium-sized sites, cellular-enabled units also serve as mobile readers, using connectivity technology to create a dynamic, self-expanding network.

The resulting depth of data allows Jettainer to determine exactly where and how long each ULD is on site, dramatically reducing search times and enabling rapid recovery of misplaced equipment. It also unlocks new business insights that support further optimization of ULD fleets and throughout the unit lifecycle.

“Traceability has become a critical factor in air cargo operations to monitor and control the supply chain and proactively respond to anomalies,” said Dr. Jan Wilhelm Breithoft, CEO of Jetner. “It is imperative for us to lead with reliable, forward-looking technology. While BLE and LoRa are the standards to date, the integration of cellular connectivity and network technology represents an important step forward. Together with Trackonomy, we are driving innovation in ULD tracking to provide our customers with greater transparency, efficiency and intelligence.”

Headquartered in Silicon Valley – the world’s leading ecosystem of innovative companies, startups, venture capitalists and research institutions – Triconomy is the ideal partner for this journey.

“Today our platform handles more than 15 million transactions per day,” said Eric Volcrink, CEO of Triconomy. “The rate of growth we are seeing is astounding – based on signed contracts, our technology will soon power more than 200 million reusable transportation vehicles, including nearly 20 percent of all high-speed transportation units worldwide. To realize this vision.”

This collaboration underscores Jettainer’s commitment to enhance its digital capabilities and position the company as a trusted, technology-enabled partner to airlines and cargo operators worldwide.
