How to have the best Sunday in LA according to Claire Vivier

At the much-anticipated Claire V. Patterns sale at The Row DTLA last month, designer Claire Vivier was relaxed as she walked the crowded aisles, smiling and offering help while hundreds of adoring shoppers snapped up her discounted handbags, colorful accessories and dresses. (Shout out to the stranger who gave me tips on how to clean my paint-stained Clear V leather wallet a few years ago!) So when we recently talked about her ideal Sunday in Los Angeles, I couldn’t resist asking Vivier where she likes to shop on vacation.

“I love shopping for vintage items,” said Vivier. “I go to vintage stores Luxe The Valley at Eco Park In Sunset and just two doors down, is another great vintage store, Wilder. In Atwater, there is tDepartment of Education on Glendale Boulevard and the A gift of clothing The Consignment Shop in Silver Lake is awesome – it’s like its own private tThat’s truewhich I like.”

As for her perfect Sunday, she’ll stay close to Glendale, where she and her family recently moved. “We love Glendale so far,” she said. “Moving in your hometown is exciting – it’s a change, but not overwhelming, because you’re still close to work and your friends.”

Vivier recently remodeled and expanded its flagship Clear V showroom on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. The sunny showroom now has two spacious rooms next to the shop window, filled with Vivier’s signature handbags and colorful “buttons, bobs, straps and fobs”. Vivier, in a personal touch, admitted that she might stop by on Sunday, but only after enjoying a few of her other favorite spots in LA.

This interview has been edited and shortened for length and clarity.

9am: Shop for vintage items at local flea markets
A perfect Sunday usually starts with a trip to one of the flea markets – either Pasadena City College Flea Market or d Rose Bowl Flea Market. Sometimes, we visit Long Beach Antique Market and d Santa Monica Antique and Vintage Marketbut these are really our favorites. We just moved to Glendale after 24 years in Echo Park, so when I shop with my husband, we usually look for home decor items.

If we split up, I’d look for vintage clothing inspiration for Claire V, including vintage handbags and dresses, as well as other things. I love vintage clothes and accessories, and use them as inspiration for my collections. I enjoy selling my clothes and buying new ones. I have a big closet. Sometimes I sell my stuff on Instagram at Claire’s Closet Clearance. Or I’ll post about them on my personal Instagram then sell my stuff there, which is really fun. I will then donate the money to a worthy organization.

11 am: Lunch
On the way home from the market, we will stop for lunch little rapper at Glassell Park. Either we get food to go or we eat there. Their open face toasts are great – their John Dory tuna toasts are always delicious.

noon: Go outside
On Sundays, I enjoy doing something outside, like playing tennis Blue Park Or a walking path DeukmeJian Wilderness Park In Glendale, which is really beautiful. I had never heard of it until I went there. They have walking trails, and you are welcome to bring your dog if you wish.

2 pm: Shopping for food in neighboring markets
Usually, we will go shopping for food for dinner because we like to have Sunday dinner at our house and host our extended family and friends. We will probably go Cookbook Market in Highland Park – We used to go to the one in Echo Park when we lived in the neighborhood. We’ll have some great cheese, baguettes, vegetables and wine. They have it all. On the way home, we will stop Fish King Seafood in Glendale and get some great fresh fish, then come home and make dinner. Sometimes I’ll stop by one of my stores – usually the Silver Lake one, because it’s close to where I live. I’m excited to go and visit, talk to customers, and see how the store looks, especially since it’s new.

4 p.m.: Home plant shop in Highland Park
I like to buy plants Eco gardena family-run nursery in York at Highland Park. I’m trying to grow my green thumb so I’m out there buying houseplants for our new house. I love supporting small businesses. They have a great selection of house plants and outdoor plants as well. I haven’t perfected my green thumb, but I’m working on it. I love having the energy of plants inside my home. I find it relaxing. They are like small animals. They enjoy dust and attention. It’s fun.

5:00 p.m.: Sunday breakfast
If we’re not hosting dinner at our house, I like to have dinner at a restaurant that’s open from noon to dusk. I especially enjoy a 4 or 5 o’clock Sunday dinner, when you can meet a friend and have a glass of rosé and something light. This is my favorite time to be in a restaurant. It feels like you’re on vacation when you’re at a restaurant at that time of day and there aren’t many people there yet, and it’s out of your routine.

If I’m going to have dinner somewhere, it’s one of my favorites L&E Oyster Bar Silver Lake Boulevard in Silver Lake. I love their oysters, but they also have a great burger, pasta, and salad. This is another one of my favorite restaurants right now Bar Etoile In the West, but unfortunately, it is closed on Sundays.

11 pm: Watching late night TV
After everyone leaves and we clean up from dinner, we probably watch a show around 11 or midnight. Unfortunately, I’m more of a late night person than I should be. I’m not a reality TV person, so I won’t be watching “Love Island,” but there is a Danish show we ended up watching on Netflix called “Secrets We Keep.” I liked him. I look forward to the “Morning Show” coming back. I love Reese, Jane and Mark Duplass; The cast is great.
