Court proceedings were delayed on Monday due to the expected Dodgers Parade traffic

Hundreds of people will have their cases continued or rescheduled as hearings at several Los Angeles courthouses are closed Monday due to road closures and large crowds expected for a parade celebrating the Dodgers’ World Series victory.

City officials said they are encouraging downtown businesses to allow employees to work from home or adjust their schedules to avoid the traffic they expect as fans head to the 11 a.m. parade.

Los Angeles Unified School District officials said all schools will be open as usual, but parents should allow extra time to get children to class.

“I encourage all Dodger fans to plan ahead for the parade, be prepared and celebrate in a peaceful, safe and responsible manner,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a news release, which also expressed pride in the team’s victory.

La County officials said Sunday that the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration and the County Hall of Records, both located downtown, will also be closed.

The parade starts at Temple Street and Broadway. After heading west toward Temple, the route turns south on Grand Avenue, west on 7th Street and north on Figueroa Street. It ends at 5th Street.

Officials encouraged fans to gather along Grand Avenue, the longest stretch of the route.

Following the parade will be a celebration at Dodger Stadium at approximately 12:15 p.m. Fans need a ticket for this event.

The team said fans will not be able to attend both the parade and the celebration, due to the timing and impact of road closures on traffic.

City officials urged fans to use public transportation. Metrolink will have additional trains on the Antelope Valley, Orange County and San Bernardino lines to make it easier for people from all over the region to get to the city.

Dodger Stadium Express buses from Union Station and Harbor Gateway will depart at 8:30 a.m.

Those who drive should expect some highways in the city to be closed.

Courts closed Monday are Stanley Mosk Court at 111 N. Hill St., 210 W. Temple St. are the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, the Superior Court Division at 312 N. Spring Street Courthouse and the Archives and Records Center at 222 N. Hill St.

Restraining order cases scheduled for Monday are being moved to Metropolitan Court at 1045 S. Hill St., officials said. All other proceedings in the closed courts on Monday will be rescheduled.

Officials said the LA Police Department is on high alert, and officers will be stationed along the parade route and near Dodger Stadium.

Officials warned that cars parked on the parade route would be stopped.
