A group of youths on electric bicycles violently attack tourists in Hermosa Beach

The Hermosa Beach Police Department is investigating the attack on a 50-year-old man that surveillance camera video showed was accompanied by a group of teenagers on electric bikes.
Authorities responded to reports of an assault just after 8 p.m. Friday, and the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged and met with detectives on Monday to discuss the attack.
Hermosa Beach police did not release the location of the attack or the condition of the victims, noting that the investigation is ongoing and encouraging anyone with information or video to contact the department directly.
Fox 11 News, which obtained surveillance video of the attack, reported that the incident happened on 11th Street near the Hermosa Beach Pier.
The video shows six young men on electric bikes carrying a pizza box over a man. They knock him to the ground and repeatedly punch and kick him before one of them shouts, “He’s dead, he’s dead” and the group flees the area.
“As I was parking the car and on the phone with 911, I knew it was a group of teenagers attacking a person,” witness Matt Terrell told the station. “They met here five minutes ago and were talking about doing something. They wanted to find someone.”
Hermosa Beach and the neighboring towns of Manhattan Beach, El Segundo and Redondo Beach are all struggling with complaints from teenagers about e-bikes scaring residents.
Last summer, a group of e-bikers were caught on camera setting off a fire in the middle of a crowded Hermosa Beach Pier. Teenagers on electric bikes have also been arrested for setting fires in El Segundo, driving down the Strand at unsafe speeds and attacking residents in Hermosa Beach.
