BBN Airlines Thailand has acquired Vietjet Thailand as its first ACMI partner

  • BBN Airlines Thailand, the country’s first dedicated ACMI operator and part of the Avia Solutions Group, has announced Whitjet Thailand as its first airline partner.
  • Effective December 1, 2025, BBN will provide Airbus A320 aircraft under a Lend-Lease Agreement to support Vietjet Thailand’s domestic flights between Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.
  • The partnership includes aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance, allowing Whitjet Thailand to focus on the network and customer experience.
  • BBN’s entry comes amid a strong recovery in Thailand’s aviation and tourism sector, with increasing domestic and international traffic. The collaboration offers a flexible solution to meet seasonal demand without the need for long-term investment, in line with Thailand’s growing role as a regional aviation hub.

BBN Airlines Thailand, a specialist ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) operator, and partner of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, has selected Whitjet Thailand as its first airline partner. BBN Thailand Airlines is supporting Vietjet Thailand through an ACMI partnership starting 1 December 2025, providing Airbus A320 aircraft for domestic services between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), Chiang Mai and Phuket.

BBN Airlines Thailand received its air operator certification in October, becoming the first Thai airline to be designated by ACMI. The airline operated under the name Thai SmartLinks during the development phase before launching full services as BBN Airlines Thai.

The ACMI arrangement includes the provision of aircraft in a 180-seat economy configuration, experienced flight and cabin crew, maintenance and insurance coverage, allowing VietJet Thailand to focus on network management and customer experience, while benefiting from BBN Airlines Thailand’s operational flexibility and reliability.

“This partnership represents a major milestone for BBN Airlines Thailand as we develop flexible capacity solutions for Thailand and the region,” said Martinas Grigas, President of BBN Airlines Thailand. “We are pleased to welcome WaitJet Thailand as our first ACMI partner and are confident that our support will match their operational needs, especially as we enter the busy holiday season.”

To ensure a seamless experience for passengers, services on these charter flights will be jointly managed; A VietJet Thailand cabin representative will be on each flight to ensure services are up to VietJet Thailand standards while coordinating with BBN Airlines Thai crew and staff.

The timing of this partnership coincides with a strong recovery in Thailand’s aviation and tourism sectors. The latest data from Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) shows that in the first half of fiscal year 2025, more than 68 million passengers passed through its six major airports, an increase of 12% year-on-year, with domestic traffic accounting for more than 26 million passengers.

Meanwhile, international tourism is booming with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recording more than 16.7 million arrivals between January and June 2025, supported by a 7% year-on-year increase in domestic seat capacity, marking the return of Thai tourism to pre-pandemic strength.

With high demand for travel, domestic mobility and regional tourism opportunities, this ACMI partnership provides an efficient and timely solution to meet capacity expansion needs without committing airlines to long-term or heavy capital investment. BBN Airlines Thailand and VietJet Thailand believe this partnership will help provide reliable and flexible service to domestic travelers and support Thailand’s continued growth as an aviation and tourism hub.
